There was a bonus for us! 'Beat' Takeshi's daughter is doing some singing, and he directed and starred in her first music video. Okay, picture a Japanese pop song with a video directed by Takeshi. That's exactly what it looked like.

Motorola

Wong Kar-Wai is an exceptional filmmaker, and this little ad for Motorola is really quite good. Just a few minutes long, it focusses on a couple with communication troubles. Don't forget to communicate! Slick editing, good music and that Wong Kar-Wai "look" that he does so well. Strangely enough, one of the best shorts I've seen in the fest.

Watching the Detective

Cute, simple film. A detective is paid to watch an old woman. Don't follow her, don't bug her phone, nothing. Just watch her. After watching for what seems like months, he starts going crazy because nothing ever happens. Things aren't always as they seem, however, and the film quickly spirals downwards into the poor man's psyche, with hallucinations and other nsties born of boredom.
