Felice... Felice...
[viff]
|
About 40 minutes into "Felice...Felice" I thought about walking out. My eyes were getting tired and nothing much was happening and the main character seemed like such a bore and it was really visually uneventful...But then I started to get it. And by the end the movie does redeem itself.
There is a definite purpose to the claustrophobic sets and the fact that the only glimpses of the Japanese countryside are through lifeless photographic plates. Slowly we understand what has occurred and why the characters had behaved as they did. By the time the main character arrives at the end of his journey, he has learned something about himself and both he and the audience are satisfied with how things are as they are.
