There are few things as pretty as a sunrise from the air. We're off the coast of Alaska right now. The ocean directly below us is frozen white/grey- far off in the distance it changes to a deep orange-cherry-red, reflecting the colour of the sky near the horizon. Ther are whispy purple clouds lazing overtop of the horizon line. Since I've been watching, the sky has turned from a dark purple into a navy blue directly above. Toward the horizon, it flirts with the idea of changing green before deciding that yellow/orange is more appropriate for a sky in the morning. The horizon is starting to get a bit bumpy- signs of land approaching. The outside of the window is getting very frosty in the -60c air outside.
Oooh, now it's all pastel versions of the above colours. Someone turned up the brightness and turned down the contrast. The sky behind the airplane is trying to match what the sky in front is doing, without much success.
I would take a picture, but the one inside your head is probably better.
