Just a dotthe tall blond guy goes to japan

Look both ways

Nagano City

In countries where people drive on the right side of the street, when crossing the street, it's common to look first to the left, then to the right. If something's going to hit you, it will most likely first come from the left, right?

But here, where people drive on the left, it's common to look right first, then left. For if something's going to hit you here, it will be from the right.

For the past month, I've been trying to train myself to look the "wrong" way- to the right. About a week ago, I started doing it without really thinking about it. Looking right has become a habit!

This is unfortunate on two accounts. One is that now since I'm doing it too quickly, I'm thinking that there must be something wrong, so I stop myself and look left - the wrong way. Then I think "no, this is wrong". Or is it right? Or left? Then I get totally confused. I've trained myself to look the opposite way that my habit tells me to. But now that my habit is correct, what am I to do? This leads to the second problem. When I get back home, the same problem will happen in reverse. I will be habitually looking right, catching myself, looking left, thinking that's right, and getting totally confused again.

My brain works in such strange ways.
